Studies show that the most important period of intellectual development for a child is in the period from birth through five years of age. This program provides a component of this development. The spring "Triangle" session is 10 weeks long, beginning the week of April 2 and ending the week of June 4. Mondays: Brooke Wilkinson 9:30 or 10:30 Tuesdays: Katie Kitchel 9:30 or 10:30 Fridays: Gary Barton 9:00 Saturdays: Gary Barton 9:00 UVMC offers the mixed-age class! This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. Your family should join music together because... The class is 45 minutes of PURE FUN with your child(ren) every week The ability to sing, dance and express oneself musically is a wonderful part of being human! Children need a stimulating, supportive musical environment to achieve basic music competence: the ability to sing in tune, move and sing with rhythmic accuracy. Reaching basic music competence is a multi-year process and the window of opportunity for primary music development is wide open from birth to 5 years old Register for Music Together now! Ten weekly 45 minute classes Two professionally-recorded CDs of the class activities, songs, rhythm chants and tonal/rhythm patterns A corresponding illustrated songbook with great ideas for musical play at home Parent DVD Guide: "Music Together at Home: Helping your child grow musically." Parent education to help adults understand and enhance their child's musical development First Child Fee ........................$170 (includes two new CDs and songbook per family) Sibling Fee.................................$50 (siblings 8 mos or younger or in first grade or above may attend free of charge) New Family Registration Fee......$20 (for all new families or once per year for returning) All class will run with seven or more registrants and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes may fill quickly since we limit each class to 12 registered children. It is important to give at least two class choices when you register. If our minimums are not met, you will be given a chance to choose another class or be refunded. Your registration will be confirmed by email or telephone.
