Singing for Worship
Many in the Upper Valley who sing in church as
congregational members, choir members, worship team
leaders, or even worship leaders and cantors would
like to understand their voices and use their vocal
instrument more effectively. Using physical and vocal
warm-up exercises and Christian hymns, participants
will learn how to prepare their bodies for singing and
enjoy using their voices as part of the worship
experience.

Singing for Worship Clinics
Designed for congregation members, choir
members, worship leaders and cantors, the Singing for
Worship Clinic helps singers of any level understand
their own unique voice and learn about different
techniques for using the vocal instrument more
effectively.
Using physical and vocal warm-up exercises and well
known hymn tunes, instructors Jennifer Hansen or Julie
Ness will help participants learn how to prepare their
bodies for singing and effectively use their voices as
part of the worship experience.
The clinic may take place during a regularly scheduled
choir rehearsal time or be scheduled as a special
retreat at a time that works for all of your
congregation’s singers.
A 2 Hour Clinic is $150
A 3 Hour Clinic is $200
The clinic can be tailored to your music director’s
specific desires. A short consultation between
the music director and the clinic instructor will take
place prior to the event.
Singing for Worship is a unique opportunity for your
congregation’s singers to explore the world of healthy
vocal technique, led by an experienced and talented
singer and educator.
Clinics may be
scheduled by calling the Upper Valley Music Center
at 603-448-1642.

Youth
Chorus Members Shine Again!
5 singers from the UVMC's Youth Chorus participated in
the Vt. ACDA Children's Honor Chorus this past
April. After learning the challenging music
ahead of time, the singers travelled to Rutland for
two days of further rehearsal, followed by a concert.
The singers are, from left to right: Elisabeth
Pillsbury, Tim Hansen, Laurel Mendelsohn, Emma
Greenough (representing Meriden Congregational
Church), Heather Thompson and Amy Hansen. Well done,
singers!!!!
-----------
In 2006, Connor Schon, Jacob Lenz and Gus White were
selected for the ACDA’s Eastern Division Children’s
Honor chorus and spent several days in New York City
singing their hearts out.
And finally, each year the Vermont Chapter of ACDA
hosts a Children’s Honor Festival in which several of
our singers participate. In April of 2006, Miriam
Whittington, Sammie Clerkin, Jacob Lenz and Meg Fauver
all spent two days in Rutland, Vermont, singing with
several other singers from Vermont and New Hampshire.
These students are using the skills learned in the
UVMC choruses and singing with some of the best
children’s choral conductors in the nation.
Congratulations to all of these performers for their
accomplishments.
