Please note: Children who attend the Ray School may come to the music room right after school only if a parent provides supervision. In previous years, parents have worked out a rotating schedule for this. Kindergarten students admitted on a trial basis, with verbal permission of director.

Youth Chorus

Further development of the singing voice and group singing skills. In this course, the music becomes more challenging. For treble voices only.

Rehearsals: Fridays 3:45 - 5:15PM

Second Semester: starting January 18, 2008

UVMC has been well-represented at recent choral events all over the nation! In February of 2005, Meg Fauver, Rebecca Norton, Scelza and Rebekkah Schweitzer travelled to Los Angeles to participate in the American Choral Director’s Association’s National Honors Choruses. Meg was chosen for the first-ever Children’s Chorus, while the other three sang in the Junior High chorus.

In 2006, Connor Schon, Jacob Lenz and Gus White were selected for the ACDA’s Eastern Division Children’s Honor chorus and spent several days in New York City singing their hearts out.

And finally, each year the Vermont Chapter of ACDA hosts a Children’s Honor Festival in which several of our singers participate. In April of 2006, Miriam Whittington, Sammie Clerkin, Jacob Lenz and Meg Fauver all spent two days in Rutland, Vermont, singing with several other singers from Vermont and New Hampshire.

These students are using the skills learned in the UVMC choruses and singing with some of the best children’s choral conductors in the nation. Congratulations to all of these performers for their accomplishments
